We recently rescued a 3 year old miniature poodle who was abused and abandoned. Very shy and timid but so so precious and adorable, we needed a little guidance on how to introduce her to "dog basics" that she has never experienced such as a simple walk on a leash. Tom, K9Katelynn worked wonders in just a short period of time. Tom visited every week for 8 weeks, always arrived punctual and ready to go. After the first visit we were able to hit the streets for 2 walks a day and wow what a happy little girl. Each week a new command/activity is introduced building on the previous training session and our homework is to continue what we've trained on with Tom. He does a nice job of demonstrating, observing and guiding through each command. Our sessions have concluded and we still work on the teachings of Tom. Our little beauty is such a precious, happy & loving little pooch and we can't thank Tom and K9Katelynn enough for their patience.

K9katelynn did an amazing job with dog training. He gave ME the skills to train my dog. Those skills are something I can keep and continue to train her. This dog can walk on a leash nicely. She can walk and run on the treadmill when Im tired. He had great suggestions as far as toys and treats and dog bones. Best of all, my dog loved him! Great job!!!

K9Katelynn dog training is simply a great company to hire for your positive reinforced dog training. He helped my wife and I take on the training of two rat terrier puppies. I don’t know what we would have done without the very professional guidance. Tom is a great trainer and it is clear from the first session that he can help your family with dedication on your part. Excellent experience. His training methods are spot on. My pup was potty trained in a week!! My pup was always happy to see him and followed his commands easily. In just one session he got my pup to walk on the treadmill with confidence! You take notes at each session for easy reference. And at each session there is always a question or concern time. We had a great experience with Tom as he helped our dog become a more obedient and healthy dog. We learned so much, he was a patient instructor and always made sure we understood what we were to do. We adopted a neglected/abused 9 month old Labradoodle. This poor guy had no confidence and was not socialized. We needed help training him. Tom (K-9Katelynn) is an experienced trainer and has a good understanding of canine behavior. We took notes each of the six training sessions and keep them as a reminder. We continue to practice with Louie (our dog). In the beginning 65 Ib. Louie would not walk on a leash. We had to carry him to his first vet visit. Using Tom's techniques, we taught Louie his basic commands. He has gained confidence and has become accustomed to people in social situations. We are very happy we asked for help and received it!! We think ‘K9Katelynn’ is very knowledgeable and professional. He trained our 3 year old, 105# Bloodhound and she has made a lot of progress in obedience training. We hired K9Katelynn to help our pandemic pup through fear-based reactivity and anxiety. Our dog, Moose is very smart and knows the general commands, but when he was in moments of high anxiety it was impossible to get his attention to listen. K9Katelynn did an initial assessment and we set up six sessions to solidify the fundamentals and increase confidence to reduce reactivity, In the six sessions, Moose now walks beautifully on a leash, lays down during reactive triggers, and has greatly reduced any food based possession. We can't thank you enough for helping us and Moose. Your psychological and positive approach has had a lasting impact on Moose's behavior. We have gone from a dog that lunges at every animal to a dog that can walk by triggers while maintaining focus on us.

Tom has you write down training instructions for future reference. He shows you how to work with your dog and then has you do it. Listen and learn. HE Gives you 3 weeks to work with your dog and then checks on progress. Give him a try I think you will like the end result.

Just finished 10-week training with Tom and our 10 mo pup, she uses a treadmill and swims. We love his training process, calm positive reinforcement, and no shock collars. Positive: Quality, Reliability, Responsiveness, Value I found this trainer online when we realized our dogs needed more obedience training before we have a family, and I heard back right away. He was always responsive, and always right on time, and flexible if we needed to change our training day. Almost immediately, I saw the training start to work with our dog (Husky/Australian Shephard mix). I like that it is a weekly training session, so it gives you the rest of the week to actually train the dog and work with them yourself. Although this can be hard if you don't work from home, it was definitely worth it! The hardest part about training was actually putting in the work every single day, but I was determined to get it done right so it would benefit us in the future! We are now done with our training but review the notes every so often so we remember to keep the skills he taught us!

Our puppy Lucy is a very high-energy rescue that was driving us crazy. She would steal anything paper & rush to the couch to eat it. Socks would be grabbed, taken outside, and she would jump around and throw them in the air. Lucy was also very aggressive in her play with my wife and would jump on her & play bite. We watched many YouTube videos on how to train her to behave, but she just wasn't responding. My wife was on the verge of saying we needed to take her back to the shelter until we found k9katelyn. We made an appointment with Tom & he came out to speak with us as well as meet Lucy. We signed the "contract" with him & training started the next week. After purchasing the recommended leather leash & collar (as opposed to our rope-type leash & nylon collar), Tom showed us each step of the way for each command and then had us try it as he watched & corrected any missteps. Each day we trained her was for 20-minutes at a time with Lucy on that week's new command and refreshing the commands from the prior weeks. Yesterday was our last training with Tom & Lucy now Heels, Sits, Downs, Stays, Shakes, Places (move to a specific spot & stay), as well as Off (to get her front paws off counters, tables, and people). My wife is much happier with Lucy & the fear of having to return her to the shelter is gone. We now have a well-behaved puppy that is fun to be with. We plan to continue working with her so we can take her to stores with friends and with us. She still gets quite excited but is learning to control herself. We had read some uncomplimentary reviews about Tom, and while he does instruct you to take notes (I used my tablet and Bluetooth keyboard), I did find I retained the information better than him just giving us a sheet of instructions to read (how many people read their owner's manuals). He does speak faster than we're used to, and my wife had some issues with that, but I would just relay the instructions to her, and we were fine. Some reviews said he was rude, but we didn't experience that at all. He was polite & calmly answered any and all questions we posed to him. His training is very structured, so be mentally prepared to train when he arrives. Our experience was a very positive one, well worth the cost, and we would recommend him to anyone wanting a well-behaved dog.

Our dog trainer Tom was an excellent choice to help train our three dogs. We just got a new Doberman puppy in addition to our two French bulldogs which did change their dynamic at home. My wife and I were looking for help training our two dogs (M: Rat-cha, 5; F: King Charles, 3) and came across Tom. He was recommended as a great trainer and very direct. Over the last 8 weeks we’ve seen an incredible transformation in both dogs. They went from occasionally sitting or going down on command to being proficient in a number of commands, including come, sit, down, place, wait and heel. I had read about K9 dog training in my homework and was excited to find K9KATELYNN. What impressed me the most about my initial contact with their website was the professionalism of the website itself, the wealth and thoroughness of who they are, what they do and how, and equally important, what they don’t do and why not. I left my contact info and a description of Ruby’s severe separation anxiety. She’s a 9 year old toy poodle who adopted me on May. My neighbor is just about ready to sue me. I’m not willing to give her up. I’m a 75 year old fighter, and from further contact with K9KATELYNN tonight as per my request earlier today, this dog training outfit may well join me and lead the way for Ruby and me to continue growing old together.

My husband and I have 2 puppies (a Pomsky and a Dachshund) and as cute as they are, let's face it... It was their world and we were living in it! We sought out training due to destructive behavior when we left the house and wanting more discipline for our puppies! K9Katelynn started with a consultation in order to gain an understanding of what we were wanting for our pups. He took steps to ask us about different behavioral issues our dogs may have as well as identify various different commands he would teach us. Upon formally starting training, he went over each "issue" we were facing and a "solution" to each problem which included an action for us to follow in order to correctly discipline our girls. (The girls quickly responded to these actions and we were immediately impressed). The next sessions were used to teach girls the proper way to be on a leash in addition to a handful of other commands (for example: sit, down, etc..). He asked us to take notes (for us to look back on when practicing) and gave instructions about what the puppies would be learning in the particular session followed by actually performing/teaching the commands to the dogs. He then watched while both my husband and I practiced with each dog. This method went on for each lesson with each new command. In our last lesson he taught us how to exercise the puppies on our treadmill (didn't know this was possible) and it is quite possible the cutest thing I've ever seen AND also will be extremely helpful in this heat with our puppy who is half husky and has a ton of energy! Overall we are very pleased with our experience with K9Katelynn and are eager to maintain the methods he taught us for our puppies!

My boyfriend was ready to give my aggressive rescue dog away. I loved this dog, and knew he was a good house dog. So far we’ve had a great experience with K9katelynn! The initial response time was immediate and we were able to have a trainer come out to our house the very next day for an evaluation of our dog. The evaluation ($35) was helpful because we went over our specific goals for our dog. Based on our goals, the trainer put together sort of a syllabus/package and went over pricing with us. Additionally, we were able to get our first hour-long training session scheduled only two days after our evaluation, which was exciting as I was anxious to begin training our dog ASAP. Tom the trainer really knows dogs and is tremendously effective. We have a huge and very skittish lab/dane mix and he responded immediately to Tom and his training methods. Each hour he spent with us was well spent. Bo now walks beautifully on his leash and no longer pushes us out the door to get out. Most importantly, Bo knows he’s not the boss and patiently holds eye contact waiting for our commands. I highly recommend him. He loves dogs and it shows. No harsh treatment or raised voice - ever. As long as you are prepared to work with your dog for 2 - twenty minute sessions a day, you absolutely get the results you want.

Our Meko was 10 months old when we knew that getting a trainer was not only important to us to him. I looked at many reviews and knew that we had to call K9katelynn. The training was in Meko’s environment at home and was amazing. We learned to be better dog parents and he gave us the tools to be successful. Meko has so much energy even a long walk was not enough. Now he jumps on his treadmill twice a day for 30 minutes and just learned how to swim with a leash on in the pool. In addition to making sure that he knew all the basics he was trained in and outside the house. We would highly recommend K9katelynn to anyone who is looking for someone that loves training and takes special time to make sure everyone is comfortable. We have a happy, healthy fun loving dog now.

This trainer got back to me quickly and gave the answers I was looking for. at least enough to have him come out to my home and see what they can do. Very good service so far. I went into this training with my rescue dog (whom I've had for 3 years) who's had severe anxiety issues from a rough early life hoping for just some basic behavioral modifications after all my routes/attempts have failed. Tom has exceeded all my expectations and has helped us reach milestones we weren't sure we'd ever reach! She's much more social, happy and when her anxiety rears, we both have better tactics on how to deal with those moments and how to move past. I highly recommend his services to anyone, even if your dog isn't having anxiety, behavioral disorder problems. My other dogs have become even better behaved since she has started training as well, in little things such as barking or waiting at the door. Trust me, its bigger than you think!

We reached out to Tom and K9Katelynn as there was frustration in our house as our puppy thought my husband was his playmate and would not listen to him. He is a very high energy dog and though we kept him busy (run, hikes, walks), he was still energetic and would do commands when he wanted to. He's made so much progress and the listens to my husband. Their relationship is really good and I'm grateful. It does require work - Tom isn't going to "fix" things just while he's at your home. You need to put in the time and commit to training. Would definitely recommend to someone committed to the process.

Tom helped us set up very easy and manageable routines to do with our dog. His process is detailed but works. If you follow the process, your dog will be so well behaved, and happy. He helped us create an exercise program for our adopted pit bull mix that helped him be the best dog he could be! By the first lesson he was staying off of furniture we didn’t want him on and understanding boundaries. You need to understand this is a commitment. It’s not some easy training program that you zap your dog and they do what you want. You need to put int the time and effort for his techniques to work. It’s like parenting! It’s a full time gig until they fully get it!

Tom taught us to swim our dog, walk him on a treadmill, come, sit, down, wait, heel, “place”, stop and go, on a leash, for 20 minutes of quality time, a day. We couldn’t catch him to put on a leash. Now he wants us to put his leash on. His unruly behavior has improved as a result. Tom wants you to take thorough notes. We did and now have an instruction notebook on what we should do with our dog.

Tom from K9 Katelynn is AWESOME! He came directly to our home, to assess our pup Marley, at a time convenient for our family. He was well dressed and perfectly mannered. Upon assessment Tom designed a potty regime for Marley that fit our families lifestyle. He also gave us a list of different activities to do with Marley, which is more than what we asked for. But it is just what she needed. Tom has made several trips to our home to check up on our pup. Marley has made a vast improvement with her potty training. She’s also a lot more active these days. With her being 6 I was worried all Hope was lost for my “pup”, but I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. I’m so grateful for meeting Tom. He has really help improve Marleys quality of life. We are truly impressed.

Was very impressed that K9katelynn responded to my request in less then 5 minutes. Was very professional on the phone and will be calling him back tomorrow to set up an appointment. Our first training will be next week (Wednesday May 2nd) at 11:00ish. I can hardly wait. Tom was very personable, easy to talk to and explained everything. K9KATELYNN was recommended to us by our Veterinarian for our GSD Presley when she was just 9 months old. Presley has the capacity to be aggressive in certain environments like the Vet. We postponed reaching out to Tom because we thought we could teach her to behave; however, after 15 additional months we realized she controlled us and was misbehaving more frequently to the point where we couldn't trust her in public and she easily over powered us. So I broke down and called K9Katelynn as recommended. We are so incredibly pleased with her progress. From the first day, Presley respected Tom and listened to his training commands. Frequently, I was amazed at how well she listened to him and followed his direction. We had quite the laundry list for Tom of our expectations but over the course of 2 months, Presley has learned the commands and is progressing towards mastering them. Does it take a daily commitment? Yes! But GSDs like Presley require such devotion. Tom has provide us the tools to move forward which will ensure Presley is happy and well behaved. Thank you so much Tom! I wish that I had gone the way of a "dog whisperer" much earlier in my dogs life (he is now 8 years old) as I have learned so much in solving the problem I was having with my dog. Bath time, hair trimming and going to the vet were never a pleasant experience for either me or my dog. K9 Katelynn has helped me get back into the alpha dog relationship instead of letting my dog determine who was the boss when it came to these tasks. We have yet to go to the vet and a professional groomer, but with more time I know this experience for him will change. Thanks K9 Katelynn for your help!!

Tom has worked with our Golden Doodle for a few months now and we are quite pleased with her progress. He's firm but thorough and quite professional in all his weekly training methods. Tom's approach is very detailed and he gives us numerous opportunities to practice the skills while he's with us. Most importantly, however, is his genuine feelings towards our pooch. Tom did a great job with my 3.2 lb. Chihuahua. She is my first dog and I really appreciated his step-by-step instructions and the way his program is structured. I never thought that she would be able to listen to me, sit or lay down on command but now she does. Tom also taught me how to work on correcting unwanted behaviors such as barking and whining. His program is focused on training people to train dogs which are exactly what I needed. Tom is also very easy to work with and is always professional and on time. Working with Tom from K9Katelynn, Although we had considerable experience working with dogs, our two dogs which we have had for 31/2 and 41/2 years have been tough to work with. Great in the house they were both tough on the leash and daily walks became a source of struggle and suffering. Tom did a fantastic job training us so we were able to train our dogs in a consistent and systematic way which was also totally effective. "Tom was top-notch working with our Miniature Schnauzer puppy, Bayner. He is knowledgeable, very patient, and adapts his training methods to the individual dog and its owners. We saw tangible results every week. We had to take some breaks in training due to some travel commitments, and Tom was very flexible about scheduling. He also gave us helpful tips that would not have occurred to us, like using a treadmill and swimming laps to keep Bayner well-exercised. Tom also suggested specific toys that would keep Bayner mentally stimulated, and he had good health care tips like regularly using an ear wash and using bully bones to satisfy puppy chewing needs. Each time Tom came to the house he provided more training exercises and tips and always followed up on them. Bayner is better on a leash, obeys commands more readily, and is more fun to be around. We would absolutely recommend Tom to anybody looking for an effective dog trainer."

We adopted an older dog from the pound who was afraid of our kitchen (where the doggy door is). After 2 sessions with K9Katelynn she was moving through the dining room to the kitchen. I have worked with Tom at K9Katelynn for the past 2 weeks. We have 2 Golden Doodles that needed training badly. We have had other trainers work with both dogs but no one got the same results as Tom. They are better behaved now. They listen better. And we have them swimming and running in a treadmill. We still have some work to do but we are happy our vet suggested we give them a call. I would highly recommend them.

Sometimes a dog (and its people) just need to learn some manners to settle into a situation. K9Katelynn has helped me and my dog tremendously! After rescuing her about a year ago and never having a bigger dog before I didn't realize how different it would be. I was not used to having something so big to control and knew I couldn’t do it on my own. I also had extremely high anxiety about her being around other dogs and it was deterring me from being able to take her for walks outside or let her socialize at the dog park because I was too nervous as to something bad happening, whether it be to her or to another dog. Tom has been extremely patient and thoughtful through our entire training process and reassured me every step of the way. I've found that her mastering 'simple' commands has made her a more obedient and calm dog all around, even when we are not training. She used to jump all over me, pull the leash, lick incessantly, etc. but with the help of K9Katelynn I now have the confidence and education to correct her behavior when necessary and I think our relationship has strengthened through the process. I have come to understand that I am as big an influence on my dog's behavior as she is so it was just as important for me to listen to the plan and by following everything he said we both have come a long way. He was always on time, was always flexible with my schedule and always available to answer my questions via text even if it was during the week when we were not in a scheduled session. I felt he really went above and beyond to help understand how I was feeling about certain issues and how we could work through them in a way we were all comfortable with. I really liked how he went out of his way to get to know me as a person as well as bond with my dog, it made me feel like he really cared about our success and wasn't just worried about the paycheck and whenever we were 'done' he was done whether he felt we were ready or not. I can't thank him enough and I can't say enough good things about K9Katelynn! :)

Our family has 1 large- and 1 medium-sized dogs who needed some training and guidance! Before training, the dogs created chaos and havoc and we were considering re-homing one of them. In our few short weeks together, K9Katelynn has helped us make much needed behavioral changes in our dogs! At the first session, K9Katelynn established our priorities in training, and each week we worked to learn the command and reviewed previous lessons. When I first started working with K9katelynn I had just adopted a dog. One who was in the rescue for 6 months. I was a new dog owner. My dog (Pit Bull mix) was great with people but not so much towards other dogs. She was shy, startled easy and quick to go into fight mode. She had went potty inside, broke out of her kennel, pulled on the leash and I was scared to walk her. I was scared because every time she saw another dog she tried to fight. Over the 1st couple of weeks with K9katelynn I was frustrated as results were so so. Towards the middle of our training the bigger picture stared to come together. My dog and I had the basics down and were working on new commands. Today my dog is more confident, knows her boundaries, listens to my commands and the aggression issues has improved a ton. K9katelynn has been amazing from working with my schedule, working on my needs along the way and guiding me through growing pains. If you want a personal touch from someone that will come to you and deliver results, then K9katelynn is the one you want.

My wife and I contacted K9Katelynn to help with issues we had while walking our 2-year-old rescue dog. The pup is very friendly and not at all aggressive, but the sight of another person or pet sends him into a frenzy to meet the newcomer. Tom came to our home to meet us and Riley, learn our expectations, and explain his training techniques. He made it clear that achieving positive results could only come from our practicing techniques from the previous sessions. The training included teaching Riley basic commands like sit, down, and wait. One of the most important parts of Tom’s program is for owners to learn their role in the process. We learned that it is Riley’s nature to please us by doing what we wanted, but this could only happen when he knew what we expected, and this meant working the commands repeatedly and consistently. I will admit that Riley still lacks the leash etiquette we hoped for, but I believe this is because of our failure to perform the required reinforcing exercises. We now have the basic command tools and understanding of Riley’s behavior to achieve our goal. Don’t think Tom is going to give you a magic leash and suddenly your pet will do everything you want. You have to do the work. Having said all this, I’d like to add my comments to those many others that spoke about Tom’s obsession with “write this down”. Teachers and students are all different. Tom does things his way and probably feels writing things down reinforces them. As a student, I would rather have him give me a script of the steps and important points for a given lesson. Rather than stressing to be sure I’m recording his words verbatim, I could understand the point and add my own comments or interpretations in the margin. Overall, I think our experience with Tom and K9Katelynn was a positive one, and Riley is a better pet for it. Plus, the treadmill sure beats 100 degrees on those summer days. We couldn't be happier with the results. Tom was very professional and helpful. He explained everything up front so there were no surprises. We would recommend him to anyone with a dog who needs a little fine tuning to a dog with major issues. Our dog had some aggressive behaviors which have not been an issue since the training. She learned how to sit, down, stay, place, wait among other commands. She also learned how to run on a treadmill which gives her the extra exercise she needs.

My family adopted a sweet puggle from the pound in December. We were all madly in love with him right away. He uses a gentle technique & a soft voice with the dog, which made both of us comfortable. Recently I had k9Katelyn come to the house to train my 13month old Irish terrier and to be honest with you, myself as well. He teaches with a gentle technique, a soft voice and a small squirt water bottle. *** develops both the owner and the pet at the same time. This being my first dog I had a lot to learn as an owner; such as the importance of issuing commands in a soft voice and understanding how my dog reacts to my own body language. *** explained thoroughly the correction technique and had you practice it over and over until I had it down properly. She used to jump all over me, pull the leash, lick incessantly, etc. but with the help of K9Katelynn I now have the confidence and education to correct her behavior when necessary and I think our relationship has strengthened through the process. I have come to understand that I am as big an influence on my dog's behavior as she is so it was just as important for me to listen to the plan and by following everything he said we both have come a long way. He was always on time, was always flexible with my schedule and always available to answer my questions via text even if it was during the week when we were not in a scheduled session. I felt he really went above and beyond to help understand how I was feeling about certain issues and how we could work through them in a way we were all comfortable with. I really liked how he went out of his way to get to know me as a person as well as bond with my dog, it made me feel like he really cared about our success and wasn't just worried about the paycheck and whenever we were 'done' he was done whether he felt we were ready or not. I can't thank him enough and I can't say enough good things about K9Katelynn! :)

I hired K9 Katelyn to help train my Australian Shepherd and liked his approach of positive reinforcement. I’ve done dog training classes in the past, but hands down I’ve never learned as much as I did by going through this program. I took at least a page of notes during every session which aided me greatly when we practiced during the week. I literally feel like I have a book of knowledge now and could train any new dog on my own now. And the only reason I think I could do that is because of the copious notes I was asked to take each week during our training sessions. My dog is super well behaved, was able to learn all the skills, and is very obedient now. I can’t thank Tom and K9 Katelyn enough for helping me train my dog.

Nice work k9katelynn!!: Tom has helped us tremendously with our pitbull/boxer mix Bogey. When we first got Bogey he was very skittish, unsure of new people, and dog aggressive. After working with the dog using everything Tom has taught us, we have seen a drastic improvement. Bogey doesn’t seem to be as shy, he’s improving around other dogs, and he’s respecting us more and more every day. Step aside Cesar, Tom is the real life dog whisperer!

We give K9katelynn 9-10s across the board… We learned about K9katelynn from our feed store in Cave Creek, AZ ! The reason we contacted K9katelynn for we couldn’t get our West Highland Terrier house broken!! The biggest problem we were having with our Dog( Grover) was house breaking, jumping up on us and other people and biting our toes…..After the training was done we were so happy that Grover can have the run of the house with no accidents…Grover stops jumping up on us and our guests!! Completely stops biting... We are so happy Grover knows all the commands..sit,down, come, place, off, heel, quiet…and we really enjoyed our dog park session... Although we are not yet comfortable with the pool we felt it was good to teach Grover how to swim!! We felt the time working with K9katelynn was about right... We equally felt the money paid for the training was about right also.

I just wanted you to know that hiring you to train my Yorkie was the best thing I could have ever done. Wow. Our dog came to us from a shelter with a lot of behavioral issues. We thought training might help and so we had Thom from K9katelynn come out to the house.
He met our dog and we talked at length about the issues we were facing and Thom assured us that with proper training that our dog could get beyond those issues. Our program was twelve weekly sessions of 1-hour each (at our home).
I know it’s called “dog training” but what we quickly learned is that most dogs are very sensitive to our cues as a result, they tend to reflect our behaviors as owners. In other words, what might make sense to us as humans may have a very different meaning for the dog. If we act afraid, our dogs feel it and get nervous. If we are aggressive, our dogs want to protect us by being aggressive. To me, that makes sense.
As a result, we found that some of our normal behaviors were actually making our dog’s problems worse. But through proper “owner training” we learned how to actually communicate with our pet in a way that he truly understands. It’s really amazing stuff – but as an owner, I think it’s important to understand that you are the one being trained. The goal is to be clear, consistent and predictable in your behavior and commands, so that your dog knows exactly what you want and how to make you happy.
Well, it’s been twelve weeks and I can’t tell you how much this training has helped our dog. He’s much easier to manage and a lot of the problems we had with him have diminished and disappeared entirely. The same dog that I literally had to “drag” on walks now stands tall and walks at my side, at my pace and follows my every instruction. People stop us on the street to comment on how well behaved he is and they are shocked to hear that we’ve only been at this for a few months!
In addition to commands and behaviors, Thom also recommended equipment, toys, treats, etc. for our dog that would keep our him busy when we were out of the house. This helped the dog be “mentally stimulated” throughout the day so that when we came home he wasn’t over excited and out of control.
I have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first but all have worked as advertised. Thom even trained our dog to run on our treadmill for extra exercise when we didn’t have the time for a lengthy walk. If you knew our dog, I think this would qualify as amazing. I still have a hard time believing it but he just jumps right up onto the treadmill and waits for me to turn it on. Unbelievable.
I’ve been a dog owner off and on my entire life but before this process started, I have to admit, I was pretty clueless about my role as an owner. I guess I never gave it much thought but what my dog needed from me was to be a better communicator.
After going through it, I would say that to get the most out of dog training with Thom or any other service, you have to know that you’ll need to be trained as an owner first. You’ll need to fully understand subtle things you do as an owner that send mixed signals to your dog and you’ll have to be willing to correct your own behavior as the solution. You can’t change your dog’s behavior without changing your own first.
I’ve learned that through countless hours in working with our dog that it takes precision and timing to establish lines of communication and trust with your pet. You have to be committed to practicing your lessons, receiving direction and making improvement. There is no “magic command” to get your dog to behave. It takes time to develop a system of trust and communication between the two of you.
If you are willing to set some time and your ego aside (because you will make a few embarrassing mistakes as part of the learning process), you’ll make a real connection with your pet. For us, this has been a life changing experience and we couldn’t be happier!

I was blown away by the knowledge and skill that trainer Tom K. brought to my dog, Ramsay, as Brussels Griffon/Japanese Chin mix. I’d owned Chins for 35 years. They are regal, quiet and clean. But Ramsay had more of the rambunctious which terrier breeds are known for. I was sick most of the 3 years that I owned him and failed to train and/or discipline him properly. He was this close to being dropped off at an animal shelter when a friend recommended K9 Katelynn. After only one session, everybody could see a distinct difference in Ramsay. After the end of the 8 sessions, he was a brand new dog, he tried to be stubborn at first with my daughter and I. But Tom had Ramsay knowing who was the real “Alpha Dog”! Now Ramsay responds easily to Sit, Off, Down, Wait, Heel and Place, where he jumps up on a small boulder and waits quietly. The real test was during our last session. We were outside in a cul de sac with Ramsay sitting off leash. A neighbor across the street came out with her 2 young children. Eight weeks ago, Ramsay would have taken off, running across the street, and jumping on the children, likely knocking them down. Then he would have just run away, with me chasing him in a car, trying to coax him back with a treat in my hand. Yesterday, he sat quietly at our feet, looking at the kids, but he did not move one centimeter! That’s what I call a true success story! Now I will use the positive reinforcement techniques on an out of control 14 month old Japanese Chin female that I just rescued.

My experience with K9 Katelynn dog training has been excellent. When Tom first met my dog, I described him to a friend as "magical with dogs" - silly, but true. It is immediately evident that he has significant experience training both dogs and their owners. It takes work to make progress; I felt a bit like I was in school with my two 20 minute sessions (at a minimum) of dog training "homework" per day. It was very rewarding to see my dog's progress. Tom had an answer to every question I asked, and if you do what he says, you WILL see results. That being said - you have to do what he says! If you are looking for someone to magically fix your dog, you are in the wrong place. Tom teaches you - the owner - how to work with your dog and train him effectively.

Intensive training for my 2 pitbulls who started fighting each other. Tom taught me to take control over the dogs, and in return gain their respect. He also helped me being more observant of their behavior in order to predict any aggressiveness before it's too late.
